“When you feel caught in the web of childhood abuse, find words to describe it. Write them. Say them. Express them. In safe places, with safe people.” – Jeanne McElvaney

Yesterday we were joined by Girl Scouts, Detectives, Board Members, and friends and partners in our community and agency to plant Child Abuse Prevention signs and pinwheels to honor April being Child Abuse Prevention Month.

We had representatives from Lacey Girl Scout Troop #46917, The Board of CACLMT, Monarch, The Dogs of Monarch, CACLMT, Thurston County Sheriff Office, and the Providence Health Care present to help get these pinwheels spinning. It was a freezing cold day with the threat of rain, thunder and lightening, and possibly even April snow but the weather held for us to decorate the space with blue and silver. Now when you enter our parking lot you will be greeted with the happy spinning reminders of how important it is to look for signs of Child Abuse and report if necessary.

Remember that child abuse (or suspected child abuse) is always YOUR business. Please visit the National Children’s Alliance for more information regarding warning signs and how to report. #itsyourbusiness
