New Garden for Monarch Children’s Justice and Advocacy Center! Thanks You Troop #46917 https://caclmt.org/new-garden-for-monarch-childrens-justice-and-advocacy-center-thanks-you-troop-46917/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=new-garden-for-monarch-childrens-justice-and-advocacy-center-thanks-you-troop-46917 Thu, 07 Jul 2022 06:44:17 +0000 https://caclmt.wp.iescentral.com/?p=2873

Monarch Children’s Justice and Advocacy Center (MJAC) is now an even more welcoming place to the families that it serves! Thanks to Olympia Girl Scout Troop # 46917 (who lovingly assisted us with planting the Child Abuse Prevention Flags in April of 2022) there is a beautiful flower and pollinator garden to greet our clients and staff.

With handmade steppingstones, a beautiful hanging art piece, and a collection of hand picked plants you can see the love the troop has for their community and in particular Monarch!

Everyone at Community Action Council of Lewis, Mason & Thurston Counties as well as MJAC would love to acknowledge and thank the Troop and their leaders for putting together this project. The troop will be awarded their Silver Award for supporting their community because of this and we couldn’t be prouder of these future leaders!

Next time you are visiting CACLMT or MJAC take a chance to walk through this fantastic gift! We think you will find it as uplifting as we do every day!

Take a scroll through the gorgeous garden below!

“When you feel caught in the web of childhood abuse, find words to describe it. Write them. Say them. Express them. In safe places, with safe people.” – Jeanne McElvaney

Yesterday we were joined by Girl Scouts, Detectives, Board Members, and friends and partners in our community and agency to plant Child Abuse Prevention signs and pinwheels to honor April being Child Abuse Prevention Month.

We had representatives from Lacey Girl Scout Troop #46917, The Board of CACLMT, Monarch, The Dogs of Monarch, CACLMT, Thurston County Sheriff Office, and the Providence Health Care present to help get these pinwheels spinning. It was a freezing cold day with the threat of rain, thunder and lightening, and possibly even April snow but the weather held for us to decorate the space with blue and silver. Now when you enter our parking lot you will be greeted with the happy spinning reminders of how important it is to look for signs of Child Abuse and report if necessary.

Remember that child abuse (or suspected child abuse) is always YOUR business. Please visit the National Children’s Alliance for more information regarding warning signs and how to report. #itsyourbusiness
